"My 13 yr old starts 7th grade this year.I am having him Home schooled. Our public school can't provide him with the way he learns. He has mixed dyslexeia & ADHD.I've had him tested and the DR. stated how he is to be taught. The public school will not let him play sports unless he attends public school but the school can not provide him with the enviroment or the special needs for him to learn. What am I to do?What are my rights with Home schooling & playing sports in the public school system? Please someone help me this is unfair to children."

"My daughter is going into the 4th grade, and was diagnosed with dyslexia and Irlene going into 3rd grade. The school district we live inis very small and doesn't have a lot of resources to help. They do have a dyslexic teacher that helps 10-15 students a day 30 mins at a time, but that's only during the school year, they won't help during the summer while summer school is going on. She did pass the TAKS test, by 2 pionts in reading, do you know of any places around the dallas,Texas area where we can get help for her all year long. We have a reading tutor for her now, but she only goes 3 days a week. I am very worried she won;t get the help she needs, and with 3 children younger than her, we're afraid they migth have trouble too, since it is heiredatery, and both y husband and my mother are dyslexic too."

"I have a child with special needs. He is in an inclusion class. I have offered to help in the classroom. I always volunter for feild trips.I have asked if you see that my son maybe struggling let me know. If you think that a better techinque will work let me know. ect.. However the teacher has made it clear at the start that she felt my son be held back in Kindegrader.(K-) I'm not reciving my IEP progress reports. I have asked for them for three weeks. NO luck with Principle and the school distric brushed me off. I also asked why the classroom did not have computers or a PA system. However when the distric check in on that two days later than when they told me they were going too. The school had slaped in 4 computer in the room. Distric burshed me off aging. However the computers do not work! The distirc does know that! Still I have not recived the IEP progess reports. Help whats my next move! How long do they have to give me a date to revise the IEP if I ask for another meeting. Should I try to work this out with the school? Or do I go higher up the chain? Do I just pull him and home school him? Please help!!!!! a concerned parent!!! dhinkle@sc.rr.com"
